Garlin offers the following expanded silicone sponge products in sheet/roll form, die cut or water jet cut parts. All products listed below are available with acrylic or silicone adhesive backing of choice.

Sponge Sheets:

Silicone sponge is an excellent material for gasketing applications that require a soft compressible material. It is resistant to extreme temperatures and offers good compression set. It is available in Soft, Medium, Firm, and X- Firm Densities. Medium Density is the most popular. It is available in many colors. Generally, the surface has a fine fabric finish on both sides and is available in continuous rolls up to 1/2" thick and sheets up to 2" thick.

Closed Cell:

Closed Cell Rubber Sponge is a versatile, material that offers the lightness of a foam, with the enhanced sealing capabilities of a traditional sponge rubber.It is used to seal and protect various outdoor communication, electronic, and lighting enclosures while providing protection against wind-driven rain and fire. The material is also used to reduce shock or isolate vibration. It has a smooth skin on both sides

Watertight Hatch Seal (Hatch Packing):

Garlin manufactures Hatch Packing from three different rubber compounds and a range of differently sized profiles. Our watertight hatch seals for cargo covers and access doors are used on many vessels including Naval Ships, Cruise Ships, Ferry Lines and Oil, Gas & Chemical Tankers. Hatch packing is used for watertight doors, skylights, ullage plugs and other comparable marine applications.

Hatch Seal Material Selection:

Garlin can offer three different types of rubber for the sealing face dependant on the customers specification and application:

  • Natural Rubber for general purpose use.
  • Neoprene Rubber for higher temperature and ozone resistance.
  • Nitrile Rubber for gas and oil resistance.

Elastomeric (Sponge with Tape):

With all the benefits of silicone rubber along with an easy-to-apply, with or without an adhesive back in which we refer to as pressure-sensitive adhesive. Available in a closed-cell sponge, low-density foam, or solid silicone, these products offer superior service life, excellent conformability and flexibility, low-compression set, and high adhesion to a variety of materials. Service temperatures range from -100°F to + 500°F (-73°C to + 260°C). Available with silicone or acrylic adhesives, Garlin’s adhesive products are excellent for high / low-temperature gasket applications, thermal insulation, cushioning, electrical isolation, and vibration dampening. Currently, we stock Medium Density Silicone Sponge and 50-60 Durometer Solid Silicone in master rolls for quick slitting and shipping. Call Customer Service for availability.
